Mets and Knits

Just because I wasn’t posting, didn’t mean life had stopped.
Back in April, Mark, Alle, and I went to Citifield on opening day. This was not opening day for the Mets; this was the first day they opened Citi Field to the public. March 29, 2009, St. John’s versus Georgetown University. We were gifted tickets to the Caesar’s Club level. It was a drizzly day, but we had a great time. And since it wasn’t opening day for the Mets, there were plenty of opportunities to take pictures and explore the new ballpark.
You either love baseball, or it isn’t on your radar. And if you are one of the people who love baseball, you probably have a tendency to get a little overly enthusiastic about our team. While I can get just as rabid as the next crazed fan, I do believe in practicing tolerance. So I won’t bore you by waxing poetic about the Mets, Citi Field, or Shea. And I ask that if baseball isn’t your cup of tea, you overlook this rare bout of baseball obsession in my otherwise knitty blog.

John Franco ready to throw out the first pitch

The Jackie Robinson Rotunda. You have to admit this is really a beautiful space.

What was left of Shea Stadium.
And now, a little gratuitous knitting content…
Baby sweater for Emma W. knit in Comfort by Berocco. Don’t you just love how fast baby sweaters are to make?

Half of a lace scarf from the most recent Vogue Knitting magazine. I knit this using Jojoland Melody because I love the color changes. We were watching the cold war miniseries The Company and I got a little over zealous with the pattern during the orange stripe. I don’t care enough to rip back.

Last weekend was all rainy and cold. I needed the fiber project equivalent of comfort food. That’s the all acrylic (Vanna’s Choice) 1970s colors crocheted ripple afghan! Takes me back to a time when Terra Cotta was Rust and Dark Sage was Avacado.

From our trip to Lake Placid, my haul from Adirondack Yarns is almost finished becoming a vest for M. It took me 4 tries to find the right button band. I still have to sew up the side seams and knit the armhole bands. He could have this by fall!

That vest is very sharp looking!
I love that Vogue scarf. I missed that in the issue, I’ll have to take another looksee.
Yeah, not a real big baseball fan. Our office is near the minor league stadium and now that the season has started it’s even more headache inducing traffic.
