More, it’s the American way!

Rhinebeck happened. I did my part to make sure the ecomony gets a little bit of a jolt. It was a beautiful Saturday; I was there with my famiy. My best knitting buddy Lois and her husband Evan came in from Wisconsin, timing their visit wisely to coincide with Wool and Sheep. Our loved ones generously spent the day with dogs that catch frisbees leaving us free to immerse ourselves in fiber fun.
Pics of my haul:
Spirt Trail Fiberworks Tussah Silk
Cashllama and Cashmere Blend for dyeing
Alpaca and Tussah Silk to spin
Pewter buttons, a pewter Celtic cross, a shawl pin, and stitch markers
A Golding spindle…I’ve been looking at these since my first trip to Rhinebeck in 2003, before I could even spin.
Qiviuk. Okay, so the kid won’t be able to eat for the next week, but Mama will have her hands in the good stuff.
Pima Cotton was free with the mortgage on Quivik
The high point of my day happened at Golding Spinning Equipment. I was drooling over the spindles when I looked at the woman next to me. It was Amy Singer! Being completely socially inept, I blurted out, “Are you Amy?” She smiled and answered, “I hope so!” and she handed me a pin. I added it to my collection of pins.
I was so frenzied when I got my Rav pin that I scrawled my name. I was rushing to get into place for the photo taken at the meet up.
In other news, I’ve been busy working on a sweater of my own design. I had ordered some lovely Martha’s Vineyard Fiber Farm Worsted and allowed it to tell me what it wanted to be. This is what it said:
Aquinnah
And in case you think my lack of posting is related to a lack of knitting, here are a few things I’ve done in the last couple weeks:
Voyager stole for my daughters’ step mother.
Waving Lace socks knitted toe-up with a star toe knitted in Trekking XXL color 126
Just in time for Rhinebeck
Happy Fall!

Ooh, you really got down with some Qiviut! Awesome! I saw Amy too–I didn’t say anything because I was feeling shy, but now I wish I did.
WOO! Windy Valley! Palmer Alaska Represent!!! (Sorry, you can take the girl out of Palmer, but you can’t take the Palmer out of the girl!)
