And the mania continues

I read a very touching post about a blogger’s sister who found out (at age 13) that she would be dying. She took to making crafts, turning “herself into a craft machine.” I’m not planning to go anywhere any time soon, but I can’t seem to stop. I really don’t know what’s driving me to be so maniacal creative, but I trust it will die down soon (or the dust bunnies will eat me alive).
I made an Amy Butler swing bag in Martha Negley vegetable leaves in wine (Westminster Fabrics). The lining is something else, maybe by Moda? The bag was a breeze to make and I really love the pattern. I made a mini zippered pouch for all the random bits that fall to the bottom of my purse too. The Swing Bag pattern is really well done and I enjoyed making it so much, I made it again, this time in Martha Negley Dahlia in red (the lining is a co ordinating M.N. fabric with smaller flowers). I am so in love with most of the Westminster fabrics. I haven’t yet started my Amy Butler quilt, and I’m thinking that waiting until after the holidays may be the way to go. Otherwise, everyone will be getting I.O.U.s for the Christmas.
My co worker’s grandson will be celebrating Christmas for the first time. I love to make Christmas stockings. All of the ones in our house are handmade by me (or for me when I was a baby because I still have mine). Maybe it’s because I grew up having a very beautiful Christmas stocking that was made for me by one of my parents’ friends, I can’t imagine any child not beginning his or her holiday traditions without a stocking lovingly made for them personally. With all the babies that joined our circle of loved ones this year, I’d better keep my sewing machine warmed up.
Another pair of fingerless mitts were added to the list of finished objects, knitted on Saturday for my father at his request. A man’s sock in Mt. Colors weaver’s wool found its way onto (and off of) the needles. Sock #2 is in process.

I love the stocking! I think I recognize fabric that’s on the stockings my mom made us!
Your Swing bags are beautiful! I’m a huge Amy Butler fan and this pattern is next on my list after I’ve grown blue in the face from making Frenchy Bags.
