Let the tweaking begin!

Although I loved my previous wordpress theme, I was getting tired of it. Mostly it was the fact that in order to read the type, it had to be fairly large. This made most of the standard info, like categories, take up way too much screen space. So I started shopping around for a new theme. In the meantime, wordpress had issued a new release so I thought I’d better make some time in my busy schedule for ftping.
There are a number of wonderful new themes out there now, quite a difference from even a few months ago. One of the qualities I like is the multiple columns. My first choice was a 4-column theme, but the colors were off and I found that I couldn’t live with it. This one suits fine and works with the kitchen concept. The next thing left is to customize!
I find it amusing that my desire to alter my web home coincides with the end of the major league trading deadline. It seems everyone’s looking for a better fit I guess. I haven’t had the chance to see what’s happened to my beloved Mets, although Mark told me just as I was falling asleep last night that Xavier Nady has been traded to the Pirates. I was so upset because he’s been quite the asset in my opinion. I seem to remember mumbling, just as I drifted off, that the trade better have been for some serious pitching help. The management has done a fine job so far and have earned my confidence, but I will be checking out the roster later today.
In knitting news…I finished the New England socks a couple days ago. The pattern calls for the completion of seven of the diamond pattern repeats. This made the socks soooo long that they were probably a woman’s size 11. OUch. On sock #2, I completed only 6 repeats and added 2 rows of plan knitting before the toe decreases. This makes them a perfect size 8.5/9 woman’s sock. When knitting #1, I had ripped out the toe twice because I had knit the 7 repeats, ripped back and did the toe after 6 repeats, then ripped back and re did the toe with 7 repeats. As it stands now, sock #1 is with 7 repeats and #2 is with 6. I’m so sick of the pattern at this point that I’ve just moved on. I swear I’ll go back and rip it out again, just after I finish my next project…
…which is little Lorna’s Laces camoflage socks. My friend Li has two 9-month old twin boys who need cool socks. The fun part about doing smaller socks is that there are fewer stitches. So despite the fact that I’m knitting with size 0 needles (the New England socks were on 0’s as well), with only 44 stitches per row, I can knit these puppies up in a couple of hours! My computer is having a mood, so pictures of both the New England and camo socks are to follow.
